Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years.  We’ll start 2011 off with an easy block. 

 

This is simply made from rectangles. And if you choose to color coordinate, you can do some speed sewing and cutting, or it’s a great stash buster.

 

Cut 12 – 3 ½” X 6 ½” rectangles.

 

 

 

Sew two rectangles together on the long  sides (figure 1)

 

 

 

Sew 1 rectangle across the top of the other two (figure 2)

 

 

 

Now make three more and sew them together. Now you can make this
totally coordinated by using only 3 colors .(figure 3)

 

 

 

 

This would also allow you to do some speed sewing and

cutting by sewing 3 ½” X 44” strips and then cutting them down to 6 ½” in length. (Figure 4)

 

 

 

You can make this semi-scrappy but using one fabric throughout that goes

across the top and the other two fabrics are scrappy.

 

You can make this totally scrappy but using all different fabrics (Figure 5)
