Quilts of Valor - Germantown, MD to Reedsville, WV

Curtains make a new Home or How # 60,096 came to be Honored and Comforted

New wife, New Life - a warrior returns home. 10 years and seven combat tours later, after serving valiantly to protect and defend the United States of America – 27 Years old, Sergeant Carlson restarted his life in Reedsville, WV.

Step back for a moment to Eleanor’s Quilts and Fabric’s, in Reedville, WV, located on, of all places, Veterans Memorial Highway.

Enter Melissa Carlson and Mom looking for fabric for new curtains for the home Melissa and Anthony will call their own. A fabric from the Timeless Treasures, American Valor series, catches Melissa’s eye.

There it was, on the selvage of the fabric, WWW.QOVF.ORG.

Hmm, Melissa thought…"I like this fabric, maybe there is more information online".

Mom and Melissa complete their purchase of fabric and begin the task of making curtains.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF.org), through its chapters across the U.S. and reseller partners like Eleanor’s in Reedsville, WV, serve local communities and the Nation to Honor and Comfort combat wounded service members and veterans who are touched by war.

The QOVF offers at its website a “Request Destination”. At this portal one can request a Quilt of Valor for another or oneself.

And so began the journey, which put in motion the timeless American craft of creating an heirloom quilt.

Stitched by a retired Navy veteran and quilted by a two-time cancer survivor, the QOV journeyed from Germantown, MD to Reedsville, WV. The Mission was to serve Honor and Comfort upon Sergeant Carlson.

The MSP Quilting Angels of Germantown, MD hold the privilege of presenting a QOV in the highest regard and serve Honor upon the recipient – Eye to Eye, Hand to Hand and Heart to Heart.

Honor and Comfort was served upon Sergeant Carlson, # 60,096, at 4:20 PM.

Welcome Home Sergeant Carlson, Welcome Home!
