Sailing Sailing Over the Ocean Blue

This month we’re taking a sail boat ride. This is a fun, fast block made of squares and triangles. This would be great for Children as well as some Naval quilts. It’s all in the fabric you choose and match it up with.

You can mail your finished blocks, tops or quilts to:

MSP Quilting Angels C/O PNMSI P.O. Box 335 Boyds, MD 20841 USA

We will finish the quilt, or create a top from the blocks to present to one of our brave wounded soldiers or child with cancer.  So make as few or many as you can.  Each one helps fulfill our mission to add comfort and love to the lives of those in need

 Supplies You'll Need:

2 – 4” blocks of White material (or whatever color you want for your sails.

3 – 4” blocks of Sky material

1 – 4” block of Boat material

4 – 3 ½” Sky material

2 – 3 ½” Boat material

1 12 ½” X 3 ½” water material

Take 2- 4” blocks of sail material and put them right sides together with the 2-4” sky material.

Draw a line on the diagonal and sew ¼” seams on either side.

You will then cut these apart to form the four sails with sky.  Do the same with one 4” block of boat material and sky material.  Square these up to 3 ½” blocks.  This is important for having nice sharp points.

Now arrange the remaining blocks as you see in Figure 3

Let’s have some fun with this one.

Now make more!  This would be great for Children as well as some Naval quilts.  It’s all in the fabric you choose and match it up with.

Remember, you are making and send us blocks for two great causes - Quilts for Kids with Cancer and Quilts of Valor - quilts for wounded warriors.

Quilt on!!
